well I graduated the couch to 5k program on 12th March when I did the Resolution run in 44mins, it was a great run although a bit muddy in places, we had to run through a field and there was just a massive muddy bog that couldn't be avoided and we had to walk through it as was too slippy to run. The atmosphere was brilliant and got my first bit of bling of the year!
Since then I have managed to do 5k on my own in 38 mins so I was pleased with that but I am struggling at the moment to maintain some sort of running routine, the last couple of weeks have been pretty manic work wise and each week I promise myself I will go and do at least 3 runs the following week. Last week I managed a short run of about 2.5k and actually drove to the local lake on sunday to do another one and it was packed with people because of the lovely weather - this was at 6pm in the evening when I thought it would be less busy and a bit cooler so I drove home again! I had the best intentions again this week but I have been ill. I am feeling quite frustrated, I do feel a little better today so I may try and go out later or else I guess I will try tomorrow and Sunday again. Should I avoid running 2 days on the run at the moment? Perhaps I should just give running a higher priority in my life - I have had to cover for someone else at work so have been doing overtime in the evenings and at weekends but I do like the feeling of achievement when I come back from a run and it makes me feel good about myself.
Has anyone else had the same frustrations?

Had I driven to run then I would have! People or no people! A gal has to do ..... etc π If you want to run you will. Wild horses wouldn't stop you. Be more single-minded. Easy to say, I know, but men are and I think we could take a leaf out of their book π Women can be martyrs sometimes and let everything else come first. Sometimes we just have to say stuff it, this is for me, and clear off out the way and run.
Nike say, "Just Do It". It,s so much easier and saves much angst and frustration π It should be fun, not a source for worry. Just chill a bit π
aw thanks, I did kick myself afterwards when I drove home but where I run is a beautiful lake and so its gets full of families which it makes it difficult to run as you constantly running on grass to get round them and have dogs running about but i guess that shouldnt stop me, I have a right to be there just as much as them
Firstly, don't run two days in a row at the moment. The rest day is sacred at this stage in running. Other than that - be disciplined! The more you get out there, the more you will want to get out there! There is always an excuse if we look for one but I have learned that the best resonse to this is just to run, as misswobble says. The only time to urge caution is if you are ill. Don't ever feel bad about missing a run due to illness. Much better to let your body recover and then pick it up again. Also, please don't worry about running around other people; they really take very little notice of us runners and you will soon find you don't care who sees you!
Thanks for the help and advice everyone, I think as I am a newish runner I still I need to learn to have more confidence and not worry about anyone else, I am there for me and I shouldn't let others stop me. I think I will give today a rest as my antibiotics haven't kicked in yet so not feeling 100% . Will see what tomorrow brings
Life does sometimes get in the way, regardless of our good intentions. I know that all too well. Maybe put your next planned run in your diary/phone/whatever you use for appointments, and try to treat it as much as a committment as other things you enter there?
As the others have said, don't go for consecutive days; just do what you can when you can, and take it from there.
We have all read of the exploits of our fearless marathon girls in the past few days. If not, go over to the marathon and race support community and read their race reports girls inspiration
They all started in the same was as you π And me π
Are you feeling a little lost because you finished the program, and the race that you had signed up for? That's normal. My best suggestion for a cure is another race on the horizon.
