Hi I'm new here and excited to get started, I'm considered obese, so I'm a little nervous I wont be able to keep up, but I will be giving my all! Any body else in my situation? Has the program worked for you? I've already started walking and eating healthy, I'm down 6lbs in the first week, so I'm as nervous as I am, I'm also determined to do this.

Don't worry, there is no-one to keep up with, it is your program and whether it takes nine weeks or longer really isn't important.

Just take the running intervals nice and slow and see how you go.

All of us have been in a similar situation to yourself but the program is proven and designed for all ages, shapes and sizes. I am sure you will be fine.

Well done on beginning your journey and a fantastic first weight loss! Just take it slowly and you will get there, the programme is designed to get us all there one way or another 😊

Hi there and welcome.. I'm a Grammy too!!!

This is a great programme for keeping you feeling fine physically and mentally :) It is not intended specifically for weight loss, but some folk do lose weight with it, some don't!

There are two other great forums linked with Health Unlocked too..

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Quite a few folk who are trying to lose a bit of weight are on this forum and the C25K one.. they do seem to compliment each other... as, of course you know, healthy eating goes hand in hand with any exercise :)

Thins is, follow the programme, take the rest days...( you can walk or do other exercise on those days though); take extra rest if you need to and the very main thing, slow and steady :)

You will hear that all the time on here... great advice !

This is great forum so keep posting, your successes and your set backs, if you have any...so.

I have completed the programme twice, the first time i repeated many weeks and didn't move on until i felt I had cracked the week I was on, it doesn't matter how long it takes to complete the programme all that matters that youve take the first step to completing the programme :)

Hello, I'm about 2/3 of the way through the plan and my BMI was about 33 (obese) when I started.

Take things easy and keep on repeating days or weeks if you feel the need.

Trust in the plan, you won't believe how much progress you will be making!

Good luck and keep us informed of how you're doing x

You'll be just fine. Do the running intervals as slow as you can. And if you don't finish all the running intervals in one session don't worry - just repeat the session again. Happy running

I am also obese and 65 I will complete the program on Saturday all I can say is go for it. I keep the running intervals very slow atm but intend to work on that when I graduate this time. I know I did this program before I had 2 years illness so had to start right from scratch.

I know that if I can you can it's just getting out there and doing your way.

Well, I started back in January weighing 18st 10lbs and although it was tough going at first, I've just finished week 6 and even did my first 5k race last week in 39 minutes!

I found week one very hard - mainly because my shins and ankles weren't used to walking, let alone running, so I had painful shin splints. But I repeated the week then just pushed on and they started to ease.

Around week 4, I started getting pain in one of my knees, but again it was just a case of my body getting used to the increased distances. I started having 2 to 3 rest days between the runs and sure enough, the pain disappeared and now I'm back to just one rest day and no pains in my knees.

I now weigh 17 stone, which is still way to much for my 5ft 8in height, but I feel fantastic! The weight is coming off steadily at a few pounds per week - and that's with a meal out here and there and a fair bit of wine on the weekends haha. My goal is to get down to 13 stone and I'm looking forward to how easy the running will seem by comparison then!

I would never have believed that someone of my weight would be able to go through the programme the same as a normal-sized person, but I have. Every time a run seems hugely daunting (the first 20 min run in week 5 for example) I've given it a go, and it's always been easier than I was expecting.

Just go for it - you have nothing to lose!
