I've just signed up to this today with a friend, we are doing this together with a view to shedding some pounds and getting healthier. I haven't run since my school days so I'm a bit nervous but I've seen so many people running these days that I want to at least try and give this a go.
Doing my first run later today. Is it every other day that you do it?
Welcome!!! Well done on signing up and getting started today!!!
Don’t be nervous and go slow! Following the plan you will be running in no time! The plan suggests a day of rest (at least) in between runs but I’ve (and many others) have had 2-3 days rest - all depends on how your body is feeling!
Enjoy your first run and keep us all posted with your progress!
Thanks for the advice, really appreciated. I'm carrying extra weight at the moment so 'going slow' will be my motto for a little while. What about road versus grass running?
It’s a good motto! When you are going slow - go even slower! It will help you in the long term.
I prefer ‘kerb running’ (if that’s even a thing?!). I find the kerb to be the flattest option on my runs - the pavements are dangerously bumpy and grass masks ‘gifts’ from the many dog walkers! Hehe
Yep plenty of bridle paths near me too so at least I can mix it up a bit. Given that I can't make myself invisible the woodlands might be the best option 😁
Started this programme today too. I went out with my dog and I have to say it was okay - I was definitely panting by the end of it but felt really proud of myself! Good luck with your run later.
Welcome! No more often than every other day Burley, you can have 2 day breaks if you like. This is a great programme, keep at it and you will get there. This group is great for support. My advice( and I’m still in the Infants) is to expect some horrible parts - seems to be called toxic five here-and joyful parts. Another tip “embrace your own pace”. There is nobody chasing you and it is not a race 🐌keep posting.
