This little light of mine...

...I can't think how I managed without it! :D A slightly later run than my normal Sunday evening tonight as DD's youth club were doing something different, so instead of doing 30 mins or 5k round the next village, I'd be trotting round our tiny one instead. Thirty mins of that is plenty, so having fed the rest of the family, off I went with the week 9 podcast.

Cecil was on good form tonight, right from the off, pointing out with glee that my first three minutes had been up a steady incline, my legs were tired, I wouldn't be able to do this. But I held on tight to the knowledge of last week's 5k, and tried to believe that I really could.

From about five minutes it felt a bit better, then from ten I felt properly settled into the rhythm. So much so that as half-time approached, I headed down the top section of the high street. I'd been playing with the idea of going a different route back to the main road, and avoiding my nemesis - but wimped out as it would be grassy and wet, and I like dry feet!

Back up that Nemesis incline with no problem, no gremlins either (think Cecil was sulking that his early attempts to put me off hadn't worked!), only ten minutes to go. Round and round the cul-de-sacs, noticing that it felt as though I'd picked up the pace slightly. Up to the edge of the village again. Last five minutes, hooray! Back around the roads, counting down the breaths, but definitely going quicker. And that last minute was all about pushing through, keeping going, and making sure I absolutely worked hard and didn't come home with its left in the tank!

Mission achieved, 2.68 miles run - that's 4.3km in new money! Happy with that. :)

And then as I got home, DD2 was starting to sort out her bike ready to cycle to school tomorrow for the first time - and my light was very handy for that too! :)

Oh, and a pic of my splits cos I'm very happy with them!

Sounds good. I suspect I might be singing all day!! I am confused about the splits tho - if you ran 2.68 miles why are there 4 numbers and what's the last one all about?

Whoops, yes! 2.68 was my run distance, but I start Runkeeper as I set off so it actually includes my warm up and cool down walks.

Ahhh... that make sense. I thought it was some arcane logic that I'd never understand!
