I downloaded the Sam Murphy bridge to 10k podcasts and shunning Laura went out with Sam instead. I'm sure she's a nice enough girl, but the first walking music track was so loud I had to turn it down so I could still hear the traffic, then the second was so quiet I almost missed the cue to start running. The music itself was rather uninspiring. Or it could just have been that my mindset for running today was uninspiring. The legs were leaden, the calves tight even though stretched beforehand.
A couple of text messages pinged onto my phone. I ignored them as usual but then began to wonder if those had been the cues to do my first walk. A very short while later the music disappeared - and then restarted. Then it did it again. I realised that had been my walking break. Fortunately traffic lights ahead meant I got an enforced break so unable to walk in the very short traffic island I took the opportunity to stretch instead.
I ended up having to concentrate quite hard on listening out for Sam whispering when it was time to walk. I liked the way I got words of encouragement and a nice 'well done' from Laura at the end - if Sam did the same, I couldn't hear her, so finishing felt like a damp squib rather than an accomplishment.
So, not a great run. And now I have my homework to finish. Yay.
