Second Post Grad Run - I two-timed Laura and went out with Sam instead but I think she must have lost her voice ...

I downloaded the Sam Murphy bridge to 10k podcasts and shunning Laura went out with Sam instead. I'm sure she's a nice enough girl, but the first walking music track was so loud I had to turn it down so I could still hear the traffic, then the second was so quiet I almost missed the cue to start running. The music itself was rather uninspiring. Or it could just have been that my mindset for running today was uninspiring. The legs were leaden, the calves tight even though stretched beforehand.

A couple of text messages pinged onto my phone. I ignored them as usual but then began to wonder if those had been the cues to do my first walk. A very short while later the music disappeared - and then restarted. Then it did it again. I realised that had been my walking break. Fortunately traffic lights ahead meant I got an enforced break so unable to walk in the very short traffic island I took the opportunity to stretch instead.

I ended up having to concentrate quite hard on listening out for Sam whispering when it was time to walk. I liked the way I got words of encouragement and a nice 'well done' from Laura at the end - if Sam did the same, I couldn't hear her, so finishing felt like a damp squib rather than an accomplishment.

So, not a great run. And now I have my homework to finish. Yay.

So it's not me going deaf then! I, too, found Sam's prompts a little on the quiet side, particularly if a large vehicle or two went past at the wrong moment. Did quite like the structure though so intend to try again at some point.

Sometimes the music was quiet, sometimes it was loud - I found it irritating and really missed Laura's encouragement. Did you listen beyond W1? I couldn't find anything structured about today's music and I actually have no idea what Sam said at any point other than before I started walking!

The music wasn't structured but I quite liked having someone tell me when to walk & run. Have only used it once - no real ambition to do 10k yet, was using it to try to help motivate me :-(

The first week she's very quiet. After that she's loud and clear, but she doesn't say much. Not like Laura. But then we're graduates now, we don't need to be coaxed along!

It's just week one that's quiet. The rest is fine. You are in good hands with Sami!
