...is amazing. As you know I'm not a forum person however since joining a week ago I feel that you have all made a difference. Many of you have taken time to respond/reply and give advice which has made the world of difference. From a 'non runner' 6 weeks ago, I have been using the treadmill and keeping up with the programme and with you all behind me encouraging (nagging!!) me I finally went outside. I had a bag full of excuses - kids, wrong clothing, poorly ankle you name it however my husband offered to go with me to our local lake. We parked up and walked to the lake to warm up and not only did I run (more jog) past the first bench which I would normally stop at I ran around the lake....TWICE!! I ran for 26 minutes! The sound of geese and the sun shining on my face. My thoughts as I pushed to do the second lap was I want to tell those on my forum what I have achieved. I am a happy little biscuit today...and it's all down to you guys. Thank you. Let's see what Thurs/Fri brings!! 😊

Well done. 26 minutes running (or jogging, it doesn't matter) is close to graduating, can't be long now!

Not sure what sun shingling is though, ecstatic typing perhaps? ;-)

That's the one!! Ecstatic typing!! Shining!! It was lovely...even the uphill bits that I haven't encountered before😊

That sounds perfect Claire😊

Well done on pushing aside the excuses and getting outside for a great run in the sunshine.

Nice and slow and steady is all you need.

Good luck with Week 7.😊

That's a fantastic post -and a fantastic run. Well done. The support on this forum is brilliant but it's you who's done the work and got yourself running outside for 26 minutes - were the geese chasing you by any chance? :)

Yay! Well done! Sounds like this was quite the mental challenge for you and you did it! You can be proud of yourself :)

Yes, it was and the feeling was amazing! I love my 'firsts' I just need to do it again to ensure it wasn't a fluke! I might run the lake in the opposite direction but I'm sure there is more uphill that way ha ha 😁

That's great news, I can feel your excitement resonating out of your post. Ours is a lovely little forum, I always feel so privileged to be part of it.

Hooray, we got another person outside running in the sunshine! I love this forum too, the way everybody suports each other. So glad you enjoyed your outside run - I think that's really the point of the whole thing😎

Perfect.... and that is the joy of running, enjoy your outdoor adventures :)

Haha. We're good at nagging.

Seriously well done on the run around the lake. Sounds like a beautiful route and it sounds like you nailed it. Will you continue on the outdoor runs or switch it up between the treadmill and outdoors?

Speaking of nagging, I haven't seen you out and about recently, RWD.

How's things?

runswithdogs profile image
runswithdogsGraduate in reply toDunder2004

Not great Dunder. Two weeks into a concussion so no running. No work. No reading. Limited screen time - a few minutes here and there. I've got cabin fever like crazy. I'm missing running, both for the physical benefits, and the mental ones.

Damn RWD, I just read your post on the walking forum. I had no idea you had an accident. So sorry to hear that and even sorrier (now) about nagging you ;)

Any idea how long it is likely to be?

runswithdogs profile image
runswithdogsGraduate in reply toDunder2004

No problem Dunder. I should probably post on the running forum. I'm off work for another week and a half minimum. I don't think they want me to run until my head is better. No idea how much better it has to be. I told my physio I have an important race in June and he said to have realistic expectations. So not what I was hoping to hear.

Bless you that's awful. But rest up and get yourself better slowly will be better in the long run. It's amazing how you take things for granted. A friend of mine had it for nearly 11 months and it just makes you realise how lucky we are.

I will probably mix it up. I normally do half hour on the treadmill whilst the girls watch Scrambled on a Sat morning and then I have a skip in my step for the rest of the day. I am happy to go out in all weathers - I'm not just a fair weathered 'jogger' but the feeling was amazing 😉

Well done, a great run! I have a local lake I sometimes run around, enjoy!

Ps we are all runners, to jog you must use the running technique so that makes us all runners 😀
