So had the 12 hours trots overnight (last night's tea or prospect of job interview this morning - who knows)? However, faithfully went out early this afternoon for 2nd run of Week 3. This is really hard! And the prospect of nearly doubling the runs next week fills me with dread. I don't have the fitness to be able to run for 5 minutes, only just manage to do 3! Is it this hard because I haven't been doing the Strength & Flex, I've been doing Pilates and Yoga in between, so am not sticking to the plan? Want to get through but feeling really despondent at the minute. Should I start S & F...xx

So.... you have a disturbed night being unwell and a job interview in the morning... and yet you still completed W3r2 successfully first time this afternoon... and you think something is *wrong*?????!!!!!

You'll have had some non-running days for your body to get ready, and another session with W3 before you tackle next week! It doesn't matter that it is hard... although of course we'll all say "Go slower"

The NHS C25K running and strength and flexibility programmes are separate and you do not have to do them concurrently. There is a suggested plan for those who do want to combine them. I prefer yoga myself too although I have done the S&F programme. It's not essential to do anything else and it depends how energetic that pilates and yoga is (is it a class?), but for some of us, it would be too much all at once. You're building something to be sustainable not rushing to a finish line.

You are doing *fine*!

Thanks GoogleMe, I just don't want to fail. I couldn't really go any slower, being 6 stone overweight is a lot of ass to haul around!!! Oops meant to say mass, but ass will do ha ha! Pilates and Yoga is just off the NHS Choices site so not too strenuous but wow gets those sleepy muscles working...xx

Exactly what GoogleMe said! You're doing so well, and you still have another run and some more rest days before next week happens. 'Sufficient unto the day' and all that...!

I've never tried the S&F set - I'd like to but haven't worked out the practicalities. For me, it's running, a little bit of walking, and very little else. I'd like to do more other stuff like Pilates, but life being what it is, there isn't time at the moment.

Keep going, steadily and at your own pace. That's all you need to do. (And I hope the job interview went well too!)

ThanQ RainbowC, my own pace is really slow but at least it's a run and not a walk. Didn't get the job but had an excellent interview. Manager told me that I was 3rd out of 16 candidates, and only missed out by 2 points. Drat!!!...xx

Darn! Better luck next time, truly!

And yes, there's plenty of time to work on pace. At the moment it's all about duration. :)

Week 3 nearly killed me and I have to admit I repeated it before going on to week 4. I think it's because it is the biggest increase in running time (percentage-wise) in the entire programme. From 60 seconds to 90 seconds is a 50% increase. From 90 seconds to 3 minutes is 100% increase. Bearing that in mind, the increase in week 4 is less, and I actually felt it was easier than week 3. Looking back, I think that physically I was capable of moving onto week 4 after 3 runs of week 3 but repeating week 3 gave me the confidence to tackle week 4.

I'm sure if you complete the 3 runs of week 3 and take your rest days, you will be ready for week 4. Please don't feel despondent. You are doing really, really well. See how you feel after run3 and your rest days. It's your journey and however you do it, we're all right behind you ☺

Thanks McFitty, I'll give it my best shot, but to know that people sometimes do complete the same week a couple of times is comforting, won't feel like a cop out...

I think I took 6 weeks to get from week 3 to week 4... it was such a long time ago now I can't remember for sure, and I've still only just got to week 9. Don't worry at all about repeating as necessary, but at the same time don't let the fear of progression stop you moving on when you're actually able to. :)

Hee hee, soz davelinks!😁 I only had a banana for breakfast, and a yogurt for dinner, so maybe was lacking in a bit of energy too. Good interview, but only 3rd out of 16 candidates unfortunately...xx

The question is, 2 weeks ago did you think you could run for 3 minutes? I know I didn't and I've done w3 r1 today and made it...

I'm trying not to think too far ahead it just freaks me out, much better to think of the improvement so far!

I know you're absolutely right! I'm talking myself into failing before even attempting! I've given me and the dogs a goal of a 5.4 mile run around the area where we go caravanning at the beginning of June (always walked or cycled it) - seems a long way off at the minute...xx
