Managed W3R1!! Found it hard. I took on board all the helpful comments from before about me and my obsession with music beats/step rates and decided in the end I would give Laura the day off today. I used the Zen Labs C25K app as Sarah had suggested, chose my own music ...... in reality to complete the 3 minute running sections I had to slow down my pace a bit, so now my steps and the music no longer went together anyway. I did like having a nice big Zen Labs countdown timer for each part of the session though: for me at least it helps to know that there are only x minutes / seconds to go to the end of the interval. I missed Laura though so I've asked her to come with me again next time, hopefully with that big timer still in front of my nose as well. I've got a day off now, so that's time to sort the technology, but all else failing I'll be back just with Laura for company on Friday.
Taking Laura with me again next time - Couch to 5K
Taking Laura with me again next time
Congrats on your run - I did find W3 a bit of a step up especially the second 3 minutes but Laura does satisfyingly remind you how good it feels not to give up! I can't honestly remember the W3 music but it must be okay as I definitely didn't like W2. Probably depends on how fast the leg turnover is though. Couch to 5k in 30 minutes isn't going to happen for me unless I can catch a bus part of the way!
I know what you mean about the bus. I did like having a timer this time though, but it wouldn't suit everyone. I've worked out how to use Laura with the timer. I am in danger of spending longer on the damn technology than I am spending on the C25K sessions ... I've got this message up on my fridge "I don't want to do it, I want to have done it"
I'm a bit of a luddite with technology - if I want to know how to do anything then I prefer to ask grandchildren - the help comes with less of an eye roll!
Going to steal the message on your fridge .... it's perfect!
Go you... I will '...tell Laura you (still) love her'!
She does stick with us, and I take her with me even now, if I fancy a C25K+ podcasts and a burst of speed..or stamina... a friendly voice in the ear, to reassure me.. is always welcome!
Well done and looking forward to your next post!
Well done on W3R1, you sound as though you're nicely back on track.
The music thing is a bit hit and miss i think. I included a few tracks which were supposedly the same bpm, but they just didn't feel quite right. I've fine tuned and I've got about an hours worth of music I'm happy with for the time being.
Work has got in the way for me this week, so will attempt W5R3 again tomorrow.
Good to hear from you again. Good luck tomorrow, I'm dreading ever getting that far, fell off the mental cliff first time round before I got there. I used the Zen Labs app you'd mentioned, loved the timers (I know they wouldn't suit everyone, but I think I would rather know how much torture was left in each session!). The music I chose didn't work out, but I've figured out I can use Laura and her music as the Zen Labs music track which means I can still keep the timers, so I'll give that a whirl tomorrow, all being well. Have a great day as our American cousins would say ....
