Went out with the canicross group this morning, and did 7.5k by accident. At one of the check-in breaks I did have to speak up and say there was no way I would make 5 miles. Um... that makes it sound bad... let me backtrack:-
The place we were running today normally has a huge turnout of members, so at about the 2-3k mark we split up into 2 groups (the 5k peeps and the 10k peeps) and meet up farther on. A fair few people cried off today - illness/over indugence etc. - so we were all kind of making it up as we went along.
So yes, I had to speak up because I am 51 years old and I have only really been running since the beginning of this year and I know to my cost that my heart and lungs are able to run farther than my joints and tendons, so if I leave it till my achilles actually starts saying "ow" I have gone too far.
Anyway, the run is now done, the mince pies eaten, the hot chocolate drunk and I am home. The dog's paws have been washed and I am sitting with my feet up, icing my heel (which is now saying "ow") while my husband finishes the vacuuming \o/
ETA Looking at Map my Fitness, it looks like I didn't stop moving till I was just shy of the 30 minute mark, which actually sounds about right because we ran farther than I am used to. So I am going to count that as W8:R3
