Another run, another......

Well, another two PBs. This one was special. I decided that I was feeling noticably stronger in my running recently, so I went out and attacked today's run. My mission - to break that magical 30 minute mark for 5K

Pushing on, I found it difficult to find a rhythm in my running and breathing, because of the unfamiliar pace, so the early part of the run felt a bit awkward. I managed to keep the pace at a sub-6 min/k average as monitored by my Garmin, although as usual, around the 3-4k mark I began to feel the strain, and the last k was very hard work. I didn't want that sub-30 to slip away in the last few hundred metres, so I tried and tried.

Did it! 29:49 - more than a minute faster than Saturday's PB at Parkrun. Fastest mile at 9:21. I somehow think that this recent flurry of PBs will dry up now - certainly the big improvements. I'm not sure there's much more in me right now. I also can't imagine running two 5Ks like today back to back and breaking 60 minutes for 10K

Chuffed with myself. Off later to Up and Running to treat myself to another pair of running shoes (running shoes, not trainers!) in their sale.

Congratulations Steve, that's a great result that you should be proud of! Well done!

(and yes, the PBs might eventually trail off, but that just makes them even bigger moments)

Sub 30 pb! Well done! Try n work up to consistent 4/5 milers then the 5k times come down naturally ! Enjoy

I do a long run - at least 10K every Monday. I think that does help.

There's a great deal of satisfaction from setting out to do something and succeeding.

Well done. I knew you could do it. Next we want a sub 25 (though you may have to wait for parkrun for that) ;)

Thanks. I need to get fitter to run much faster than that, Adam. I know that will happen, but not how quickly. First thing is to consolidate this and try to recreate it at Parkrun.
