Hi Sarah,

You can use any number of running websites (that also have phone apps) like Runkeeper, MayMyRun, SmashRun, GoodRunGuide, GmapPedometer etc - which allow you to measure how far you've run.

A slightly easier alternative is Google Maps - just zoom in, and right click to bring up the 'Measure Distance' option and the click away!

As you get more into your running you may want to take your (smart) phone out with you and use a running app (like the above) or maybe a cheap entry-level running GPS watch like a Garmin.

Hope that helps!

John

You need to have a gps enabled device sarahspain . If you have a smartphone then that should be fine and you can just download an app. I have always used an app called 'Running' it has a brownish background with green words 'RUN' on it and is by a company called Fitness22. It's totally free to use and I have found it very simple as well. Just press the large green button in the centre of the app that says 'Start run' then press the 'pause' button if you need to pause your run for any reason and the 'Finish' button when you finish. That's it! :)

The app will keep track of your distance covered and the time it is taking you as well as a calorie burned counter, but I don't rely on that as being very accurate to be honest. If you then take a screenshot of your run when you finish (if your mobile allows you to do that) you can then share it with the forum (like I have done on my last few posts).

Good luck with it and message me if you need more help.

Hi Sarah

You can download Mapmyrun onto your phone for free. It records your route, time , pace etc. You can set it to let you know each 1k covered and time taken. It runs in the background so you can still listen to your podcasts , it will just break into the podcast to say you have now run 1k etc.

Happy running🏃🏻‍♀️😀

Thank you

Or, if you don't have a smartphone you can log your route manually on a computer via walkjogrun and it will tell you how far you went.

I use 'Walkmeter ' it's s free app.

It records distance pace time and calories used. History part means you can track progress. I haven't used any others so can't comment on them. 😊
