Hey guys, when you are doing these podcast are you reaching 5k? I am worried I should be and I am running too slow!
Distance : Hey guys, when you are doing these... - Couch to 5K
Distance
Hi Laura. You won’t reach anywhere near 5k for a while yet. Maybe not even until after graduation. You’re doing everything right, dont worry 👍🏼
I think the actual distance isn't particularly important until the end of the process. My first '5k' may well end up being the 5k Parkrun I'll do after completing the programme.
If you look at this poll of graduates healthunlocked.com/couchto5.... you will see that the vast majority do not complete 5k in 30 minutes during the plan.
This is about duration, not distance.
Nice graph! So I was in the majority at 3.5km.
I still can't run 5k in 30 minutes. No such thing as too slow. 👍
What they said ⬆️
Nowhere near! I did quite a few 5k fun runs when (much) younger, stronger fitter & lighter; even then my best was about 35 mins for 5k. I'm at week 9 now & I'm probably reaching about 3.5k in 30 mins. That gives me a 43 min 5k. It will come down the more I run, but the aim is to get to 5k comfortably first, the speed can come later. That way I should hopefully avoid injury.
I'm still not up to 5k yet and I've graduated recently. Everyone on the forum says it doesn't matter and it doesn't. The point is to embed running jnti your world. At some point soon I hope to run 5k, but not at the risk of going faster than is sensible for me. Just enjoy and get to the targets set by the programme to run for a specific time! Well done and good luck

Don't want to upset you. 😳🤣
You're building stamina, once you can confidently run for 30 minutes then you can work on speed and distance 👍🏻😊
