How's the best way measure my distance? Silly question I know but I can't do it accurately in my car. Any apps you can suggest? I downloaded an app called 'map my run' and drove the route this morning that I usually run. It said 9.6k which I know isn't right as I'm only running for 28 minutes

I haven't invested in an App - but I use Google Maps on satellite view to map my run and gauge distance, just make sure I take a note of the land marks, Works ok for me.

out of curiousity about distances and inclines, I did the same thing after some of my runs but using mapmyrun online, tracing back my route. I don't know for sure how good it is, it tells me my distances are further than I thought!

I use the Fitbit app as I run. It uses GPS, and also tells me my average pace. Don't know if you can use it without a Fitbit?

Mapmyrun is one of many free phone apps that will track your run and provide you with loads of data to play with.

I have used Endomondo, Runkeeper and Strava. All have strengths and weaknesses. I have never tried any of them while driving and while I cannot see why it would not work, that is not what they are designed for.

Just drove it again and it works out I'm running for 3.2 km/2 miles. So with the 5 min warm up and warm down it's exactly 5k. Just wanted to see if the park run is achievable. I think it might be. Just 3 more runs til I graduate then a couple of week consolidation and I'll be ready for 7th October park run. Thanks all ❤️

as Whatsapp says... Mapometer UK is useful too... I use that for plotting walks with small Granddaughter...( miles of them... phew)... not incredibly accurate but very good:)

If you want to check a route before you run (or after) then I use this gb.mapometer.com

I just use the in-built data screen on my car.. sorry... :)

Most of the time I just use a map, for a new run... and work it our loosely :)

When I do run it I wear my Garmin:)

I also use mapometer.com if I want to measure out a new route before running it. You draw the route on the map, it happily follows marked footpaths and roads or you can draw freestyle. I use the free version of runkeeper on my phone when I am actually running to track and measure my route. Phone apps use phone mast triangulation so aren't as accurate as GPS, you can usually see if they have had a blip when you look at your results (and you can then correct it).
