Blimey, what a run that was today! Once again I wasn't really looking forward to it, but having already taken my 2 rest days I couldn't put it off any longer. So, having got up earlier today (in order to be able to fit the run in before darkness falls), I put my nice clean, dry running gear on and set off out into the wind and rain...
I don't think it would surprise you to know that once again I didn't find things easy and I really struggled during the middle third of my run, (as you can see by my log - red for slower, green for quicker). I guess this was because at that point I was already soaked through to my skin and was probably by now carrying an extra stone around with me absorbed by all my clothing!
When I finally arrived back home and stood in my hallway, I was literally dripping wet! But hey, I was feeling really good that I got out there and successfully completed the run without any real problems, and now I have just one more run to go, then I will have made it through to graduation!!
As you can see from my log, once again I actually managed to cover a slightly longer distance on this run. I completed a PB of 3.78km in my 30 minutes and I am very surprised indeed at that because I was convinced I went slower for longer periods than I did last time and I certainly wasn't trying to do a better time. Maybe that's just down to the fact that I'm getting fitter and without knowing it or trying, I am actually running (slightly) faster overall?

Wow Lee, all credit to you for getting out there in the weather we have had today! A great run! You are so nearly there, we are all waiting for the celebrations πππ»π
Thanks Millsie-J Yeah, it did take a lot of determination to get out there in that horrible weather today, but I just couldn't hold it back any longer I don't think, so it had to be done. If I had a treadmill at home I would've done it on that!
Hey bud - you've done so well to even think of going out today. The weather here in Norfolk has been awful - pretty dark for most of the day with rain and wind to boot. Looking like the big G run will occur some time this week for you and I can't wait to read of your amazing success!! Keep on keeping on with your best foot forward.
What a run and so close now. Well done for bracing the weather... you just have to love that rain.. and it melted your treacle legs and turned them into speedy legs
Go you for just getting out and doing it! The badge is polished.. the champers is chilling... the balloons are ready... I cannot wait for your post!
Haha. Thanks for that McFitty By the sounds of it I will need to keep up the running on a daily basis just to work off all that fizz and chocolate cake!
Thanks Bluebirdrunner Yeah, it would be nice to have a decent day for my final C25K run, but we are in Britain after all, so I'm probably in for another soaking!
Well done for braving it today. I would have not gone out for run. Had to cycle to work and back which was bad enough.
Thanks Hidden Yeah, at least you were getting paid for going out in that weather today. Oh well, it has taken me one more step towards my goal of completing C25K though I guess.
Well done for getting out in the bad weather! I know what it's like running in the driving rain and wind lol. And only one more run til you graduate! Hope it's nicer weather for you, can't wait to see your post saying you've graduated x
Thanks debze Yeah, it would be nice if I can graduate and actually enjoy my final C25K run rather than endure the wind and rain, but on the whole I guess I've been lucky to get this far without getting caught out. So, I'm thankful for that anyway. x
Wow!!1... More run to goπππππππ you have done so well considering the weather you have endured ! Your times are terrific as well so you should be so chuffed! Lee you are a starπwatching out for your graduation badgeπ you deserve a nice dry day for that oneπx
Ah thanks Phyllis! Well, it would be nice to be able to complete this C25K challenge with a nice, dry final run to enjoy, but to be honest, I won't be too upset if it is raining again because at the end of the day I will still have achieved something that I can be proud of, and that's what really matters to me. x
Brilliant Lee337 ! Another great run and only 1 to go. I also didn't much like my W9 runs, I think I was just wanting it to be over, and I didn't have the bad weather to cope with. Good luck for later this week.
Thanks for that. Yeah, I reckon if my graduation run is also in the wind and rain again that will make it my 'hat-trick' for week 9 so to speak and therefore I deserve a 'special' graduation badge!
Oh fab, just seen this, well done you! Mega congrats, whoop whoop, one more to go! Are you going to join in the Choir? Pc59 and I are going to be virtual carol singing around the world π on Christmas Eve before our parkrun. Do I get a special graduation badge for managing to dodge the rain until post graduation? LOL I'm such a weather watcher! Your boxer dog again I see and there was I thinking you were going "abstract" on the next one! LOL x
Yeah, it was gonna be abstract but with all the wind and rain I just went out and ran the same route as before. Sorry about that! I'll try and do something abstract for you in the future Floss, ok? x
Umm...as for singing...well, trust me you don't want me along...even in a virtual world I could clear a venue quicker than shouting 'Fire! Fire!'
Oh, where's your sense of adventure! We're virtual carol singing around the world on Christmas Eve at 8am. Nobody's going to hear your out of tune baritone, the more the merrier! π π»π π»πΆπΆπ€π€πΉπΉ π
Oh that's good to know Von99 . If I feel like running on a treadmill instead of outsideβοΈοΈ, you can be my virtual running buddie! Would you like to join the virtual choir BTW? π
Oh jolly good Von . . . C "La la la la la la la la la" D "La la la la la la la la la" . . . Takes me back to my choir days. Pc59 hope you're practising your scales too! Oldfloss are you going to join in too? We're virtual carol singing around the world on Christmas Eve! Xπππ€π π»
Oh that's just excellent. I have been thinking about writing a carol song with a running theme. Shan't look back at yours, (don't wish to cheat) but if I get time, I'll post one later this week ππΆπ€
Well done for going out in that weather Lee! It was horrendous here at that time. Looking forward to celebrating your graduation with you in a few days.
