So I bought some new running shoes (brooks glycerin 16. About 5-10 into using them I’m getting pain on my left foot only on the

Outside for 10-15 mins then it seems to go. Is this just a case of breaking them in or is it

A foot issue? I’ve never had it

Before with other trainers but these are my first actual running shoes. I’m only on week 2 of C25K so they haven’t been used well yet. I just hope this goes eventually otherwise it’s wasted money as I cannot return them now I’ve used them outside 😕

This might help

Brooks' True Blue Guarantee

Brooks products come with a no-questions-asked, 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your new Brooks equipment within the first 30 days after purchase, we will replace or exchange your product.

Did you get gait analysis ?

Hope it settles😊

Would this apply if I bought them from runners need?

Yes I had a gait analysis when I was there, walked in them and ran. They felt absolutely fine. I went for a walk in them and it started from there. It’s happened every time

I’ve gone out in them but it settles. Maybe my left foot is a bit wider which is why is hurting?

Yes, and independent running shops want repeat custom!

Go back and have a talk ( sooner rather than later)

I hope you get it sorted 😊

I had exactly the same problem. Had gait analysis and found a pair of Brooks trainers the most comfortable in the shop. However, wore them for wk 2 and have had to stop running this week as can hardly walk. Pain in achilles and heel in both feet. I didn't wear them in first as nobody said I needed to. I'm now anxious about trying to start running again. Still have some pain in right foot. Should I leave it another week, try walking in the new trainers or wear an old pair? Anyone have any advice please?

I would advise that you return the trainers, explain exactly what you have said here. The shop should be understanding.

For week 2 they shouldn't need breaking in.

Wait until the pain settles before you run again. 🤩

As you had gait analysis, one assumes that they are the correct shoe for you.

I always rotate shoes, so rarely wear the same pair for consecutive runs. With new shoes this allows feet and shoes to adapt to one another over a period of time, adjusting to different support.

I had similar problem with some New Balance shoes last year. Despite gait analysis and checks in store half way into a 5k run my right foot started hurting. I contacted the store and they told me to persist for a week as my feet could be just getting used to them but if not bring them back in.

As has been said a good running store will want repeat custom.

I am pleased to say that gradually my feet became accustomed to them and the shoes are doing their job. Now almost a year later - the shop is about to get their repeat custom.
