My third week postgrad. Still going strong. πͺ
First run of this week marked my first ever sub-35 5K at 34:59. π
This morning's run was supposed to be nice and steady one, but unexpected thing happened. I was right in the middle of my run, fighting small incline, appropriately reducing the speed when this fit annoying power-walker zoomed pass me. Oh, no you won't, I said to myself, but couldn't keep up as much as I wanted. Soon after that the incline was finished and there was this flat and steady part. I could still see him in the distance. After that the decline started and I went full-on for what I later realised was my fastest 1 mile ever at less than 6 min/km or 10 min/mile pace. And I caught up, overtaking him in one glorious sprint. I think the poor guy was scared from the noise of my heavy breathing and tumping of my legs, he turned his head to look at me. Yeah? Who's the runner now?
After that I cleverly moved into the woods and, making sure he wasn't looking, slowed down to a crawl.
Somehow managed to finish my 5K half minute faster than my PB, but the all experience felt great. I am slow but competitive and can't wait to build up the speed. Next time I'm running where there are no other people around. Or maybe I'll just chase my shadow. π
