Complete lack of motivation!

So I just went out for a run but I am full of cold body aches etc and after 1.5km had to stop to catch my breath and sinuses are blocked. I then started to feel really sick and dizzy and felt as though I was going to faint which is something I do whenever I'm ill but today I was meant to hit my 8km running goal and just feel so disheartened that little things keep stopping me in my tracks. I was so excited when I started running has anyone got any motivational advice! I need to keep going and really struggling!

Maybe I'm a wimp but I don't really think a good run is likely when one is full of cold and has blocked sinuses. Sometimes it does feel like it's one thing after another but stay focused on why you're doing this and the goals will come with time. Be nice to yourself :D

Think of running as part of your life now. It is something that you do. This means that it is ok if you miss a run due to illness as you'll run when you're feeling better. Thinking of running as part of your life rather than specific to goals can help remove those feelings of success or failure. You won't lose the gains if you take the time off to recover, but if you don't take the time off, it might take you longer to feel better. You'll be able to reward yourself with a run when you're fully recovered. Best of luck.

Don't mix up lack of motivation and being sick, it's not the same. I'd say you're pretty damned motivated if you were out in your trainers in mid-October taking your blocked-up sinuses for a walk, but your body told you to take a hike because it can only deal with so much at a time. So listen to your body and give it a couple of days to recover- don't put undue pressure on yourself to perform or it will become a chore rather than a pleasure.

Little things! Cold, aching body, sinus issues.. come on, ease up on yourself...

First, get better... you need to feel on form to run...:) Curl up, and heal, plan some routes if you have to...then get out there and go for it.

You haven't lost motivation I don't think...you just forgot that being kind to folk, also includes yourself :) x

You don't make yourself fitter and healthier by running when ill. That will knock your motivation more than anything. Listen to your body.

I'm exactly the same, full of cold, and dizzy too. How can you expect to run when you are queasy and dizzy? I won't run until I feel better, and you shouldn't either, you will slow your recovery down. Think of it as a rest week.
