What to wear

Hi everyone, I'm after some advice. The gremlins are at me and I really don't know what to wear now it's getting a bit dark and chilly. I do get really hot and sweaty when I'm running, but feel the chill in my hands and arms. I have really enjoyed my journey so far and don't want to give in to the gremlins.

I find winter the best time to run, but clothing is tricky. Could you get a long sleeved top that has a hole at the end for your thumb? This should keep you warm, but depends where you live as if it's in the Arctic you may need slightly more!!!!!

ha ha, no thankfully not the arctic, only in Notts. I'm trying to get Hubby running as well and he insists on putting his wind proof cycling jacket on, he's only on week 1 but it's making me want to put something else on.

I've gone from just a vest to a vest and short sleeved tee shirt, but have cold hands. Brain wave - try a pair of gloves, I'll try that this afternoon.

Any tips for running in the dark?

I have a lupine head torch but you can buy head torches quite cheaply. These are great, and it's magical running in the snow or ice as the air looks like glitter...... give gloves a try and perhaps a hat if you feel the cold. I've never done gloves or hat as I just get too sweaty, even on very long runs in the winter, BUT I do love a BUFF?.. have you one of these???

I have Buff's normally use them as a hat under cycle helmet and neck warmers when on motorbike

I find long sleeved tops are great and last winter, I wore a short sleeved top over that (can always peel it off if I get hot)! Would like holes for thumbs but last year wore gloves which were cosy!

A change in weather and the dark nights just gives us an excuse to buy new running gear or dig out some old favourites from last winter. I have a head torch coming for my birthday and already have a reflective vest too. I tend to wear a long sleeved top. Can always unzip it to let the air circulate and rolling up my sleeves when I get sweaty! I like to feel a little warm around the neck and head and have a fantastic cotton snood that I can wear on my neck or make into a hat. For me long tights are vital both in summer (to avoid being caught by stinging nettles) and in winter too for warmth. Gloves not used yet but will soon be digging them out! All makes running more fun!
