I've always found it easy to procrastinate, in fact I'm pretty damned expert at the task. Today was my day to do my repeat W1R3 having made myself restart the whole C25K programme from the beginning. My gremlins told me very early today in no uncertain terms that I really shouldn't do this, that I'm not a runner and never will be, that runners don't come built the way I am! They said a lot more and nastier negative things as well, but better to keep those to myself I think. Procrastination set in and the day started to gradually leak away. I'd already got my gym bag packed as I normally have, so eventually I picked it up and headed for the gym before I changed my mind again, having decided that my normal gym programme would be replaced with W1R3 (repeat) on the treadmill. Weren't those gremlins ranting at me now, especially at the moment when I pressed that "quick start" button on the treadmill. All the way through the warm-up walk I was dreading the fact that any moment now the lovely Laura was going to tell me that it was time for my first run, it's only 60 seconds etc. I trampled on the gremlins at the end, with a silly smirk on my face. My gremlins had told me this morning that at best I should just keep repeating week 1, but with W1R3 completed and having trusted Laura the first time round it's on to W2R1 on Thursday. Wish me luck, I guess I'll need it. It's only week 1 I've finished again but I'm pretty pleased with myself
Procrastination ... and then some!: I've always... - Couch to 5K
Procrastination ... and then some!
Pleased with yourself... and rightly so. That was some mega gremlin squishing session you had there. Nasty little buggers they are. Good luck with week 2
Well done, good luck and you will be fine with W2.
WELL DONE. I'm so pleased that you beat those gremlins. You have every right to be pleased with yourself. You know you can beat them now so I'm sure you'll nail W2.
Thanks Sarah. How's the calf muscle coming on? My doctors are changing my medications yet again next week, but this time I asked and they have promised me it won't knock me for six like the last time. Love hearing from you and thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you.
The calf muscle seems to have settled down. I think I stopped before I did any damage. I re-ran W5R1 today and found it a little easier than last week, so that's given my confidence a bit of boost so will tackle R2 again on Friday. Eeek!
Changing needs can cause all sorts of havoc, hopefully they won't cause problems for you next week.
Good luck for tomorrow's run.
Well done you! If you've any of that self-confidence left over that you can do without then please send it in my direction. Having restarted C25K from the beginning it's just W2R1 for me tomorrow - done it before so don't see why I shouldn't do it again this time. Keep me updated on that "Eeek!" .....
Well done - you got out there and you did it. And squished those gremlins but good! On to week 2 now
So you should be pleased with yourself, rightly so. You squished those gremlins, and now onwards and upwards to week 2 run 1 on Thursday. Just go straight to that gym, get on that treadmill and enjoy. You know how brilliant you're going to feel afterwards. Wishing you lots of luck. 😊🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻😊👏🏻👏🏻
Sounds like a good gremlin-squashing session! Well done!
Well done! It feels all the sweeter when it's been a struggle.
Well done - you'll be fine with week 2 - just listen to Laura!
Well done you! Today you didn't let those gremlins win! Bring on Week 2, you'll be fine!
