I was on a business trip in Berlin yesterday and really wanted to run. My hotel was very central right next to the river Spree, not far from "Angie's residence" and really just perfect. I'd run here a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it, so wanted to repeat the experience - although that normally doesn't work! A slightly different route was chosen and I loped off in the half-light before dawn at 6:30 am.
It's different running with other runners around, but I didn't feel intimidated as the fit young things zoomed silently past me. After all I wasn't out of breath either, I was really enjoying myself. Cool, clear, a perfect jogging path along the river ahead of me, at the centre of German history with lots to see. I took it easy and absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful run where everything clicked. It's rare to actually enjoy a run while it's happening, but this time I did. I felt light, I felt like a runner, I wasn't even breathing heavily. 33 mins of perfection which energized me for the whole day. It really makes it all worthwhile!
