Week 8r2 happened today! πI can't remember the last time I was so close to a personal achievement that has required effort and commitment! I am so proud of me, and I haven't even graduated yet!!!
I have been very fortunate in my choice of timing for the bulk of my running, as I am a teacher and therefore have been enjoying the summer hols and been able to run pretty much at my leisure. Work starts tomorrow, and I am just hoping that my enthusiasm doesn't dwindle as my working life gets back on track!!! π³
My plan is to commit Tuesday's and Thursday's to running during the week ( Saturday or Sunday at weekends) and that I will do it before work. I am also wondering how the change of season will affect my enthusiasm. Dark mornings are sooooo depressing π
However, I don't doubt that this forum will guide me gently through it. The support has been phenomenal. A huge thank you to each and everyone of you. See you in September xxxx

Whoop whoop..well done Jingle Berry so pleased for you. I did my W8 R1 today and like you are tentatively thinking about the finishing line and how I keep this up and stay motivated. I start a new job next week so wondering how /if I can fit in my morning runs before the commute as that's the best time for me re energy and yes what about when's it's dark and wet ha ha!! Also wondering if there's a follow on programme or one to keep us where we are but changes it up a bit? Better not look too far ahead still 5 more runs for me till graduation but I'm right behind you @jingleberry
Good luck with the return to work, I too have this to contend with and am wondering how I will fit everything in but where's there's a will there's a way
Early mornings are the way forward for me RunningGeek. Once I get home a) I am tired and b) the evening seems to evaporate c) I need more sleep so early nights. π
Smugness can't be over rated! I'm just bad at getting out of bed before 7am. Have a belief system that says there is only one 6 o'clock in the day Will see.
I have 5 runs left until graduation I have already had a look at the podcasts for post c25k so hopefully it will keep me motivated as there are 3 different ones to look at
I am hoping to start a C25k running club at school for parents and children twice a week, so will be redoing the program as well as whatever running I do myself, so that should see me okay for a while at least!!! π
Oh Jingle_berry , its all getting very exciting now isn't it ?
Good Luck with going back to work , you will find a way I am sure to fit your running in. I do mine after work . I would love to go really early in the morning , but it would be very hard trying to sneak out without waking my pugs and once I am up they would think it was walkies
I have just completed week 8 run 1 and I know I can finish this challenge. I agree I am not sure how to keep this going after week 9 and when the wet and windy weather comes in. All help appreciated. I have been back at work 3 weeks now and I am managing to fit it in mostly by running in the mornings or in my lunchtime.
Well done on keeping up the momentum when back at work! I don't think I can do lunchtimes - I need a shower afterwards!!! I definitely get 'runners hair!'
I am going to try my hardest to keep going, I guess Dec, Jan and Feb will be the hardest!
Also, running gives me time to think and de-stress, so I NEED it more than want it ( as the song goes!) when back at work X
I certainly need a shower after running but some days I work from home and then a shower is easy. Not sure I could do this if I worked in an office unless they had a shower.
I agree with you on the de-stressing which is why I started to run. I do feel much more able to cope now and running provides good thinking time.
Was just thinking today how much better I feel mentally as well as physically from following this programme. Like you don't just want to carry on, need to
Just in case you were wondering which song π Certain lyrics stay with me and I quote them expecting everyone to know what I'm talking about!!! Listen out at 1min 12 secs xxx
yes I am the same, a shower is a must. Home working is the only way unless there is a shower at work. I like how the run and a shower takes me an hour then I am ready to concentrate on work again
Thank you lightweightkate. I'm sure I'll do it because I want to do it and more importantly I enjoy it...there it's out, I said it out loud ' I ENJOY RUNNING' ππ
Also, my brother and 12 year old nephew have started today and with the enthusiasm and optimism of a 12 year old, he has said next time we see each other we can go for a run!! Certainly no stopping til October πππ
Oh Jingle_berry you are so close now. So well done! I love the early morning runs (mainly as there are less people) and it really does set me up for the day but going back to work does throw the running timetable out a bit. I know you'll find a way! (think your idea of setting up a c25k club for parents & children is awesome btw)
Well done on completing 8/2 - hurrah! You will find a way to fit it in, maybe not always in the same way. After the security of my first few weeks, changes happened and then some more and I couldn't believe how inventive I became at squishing in the run. You are on the finishing straight and will be there in no time at all. We will all be here to wave you over the line. ππΌππΌππΌππΌ
The follow on podcasts are challenging and fun. Married with consolidation on the 30 mins, I am having fun with seeing myself go a little bit further in the time - sometimes though I don't!!
Next run you will have captured week eight! Looking forward to hearing about it.
