Fancy device says I ran/walked 3.43km, intrigued as to whether this is too fast or slow because wow it was an effort
W2R1: Fancy device says I ran/walked 3.43km... - Couch to 5K
W2R1
It is probably to fast but could depend on your route what I would say is don't get to wrapped on speed and distance they can be developed when you have finished the programme but well done anyway
Its just ive never ran since school, was along beach! Just was sooo shattered convinced i would never do this xx if i can slow down theres hope
If you can slow down believe it or not it will be more enjoyable because you won't get injured but running on sand well done as that is quite heavy going anyway but it helps if you have lots of self belief that you can do this I am not a natural runner and would probably say a bit older than you (54) but I graduated 3 weeks ago and hadn't done any serious exercise since coming out of the RAF 12 years ago
Mmmm 46 in a month and hated cross country running at school so never done it since!! Was aware I'd always been a sprinter at school so thought I may be a bit quick xx determined to do this xxx thank you
Hi jiggle54, I just checked my app and on week2 run1 I covered 3.15k.
Sounds like quite a long way for W2R1
I'd be inclined to ditch measuring distance until you're at the pure running stage i.e.. weeks 7-9
and even then - take it easy let your legs get used to the work - pushing speed is a recipe for injury
I love data and measure every run now but phone apps can be inaccurate especially over one measurement.
The only important meter is your enjoyment
Not getting much at minute lol x just pure determination x end every run like an on fire beetroot bless me
The key to success is to take it slowly. It is hard, but all about building stamina. Forget about distance, just do the time. It will be much more manageable if you take it slow.
Sand is really hard to run on although it's lovely to run in great surroundings - is there a prom or somewhere nearby with a more forgiving surface? - don't make life too hard for yourself!
Good luck!
