W2R1 ....Hello everybody!

So, I started C25K last Monday, then a few days later I discovered this site and have been reading so many inspirational blogs since then.I decided today to start this blog to record my runs and ,hopefully, my progress....so here goes.

I found last weeks runs relatively easy, just a few niggly aches after the first two - around my neck ( always been a bit of a dodgy area for me) and around my ribs at the sides a bit,but nothing major.

Started out early this morning ,due to the heat ( I'm in SW France...running anytime other than first thing will be a no-no for me this time of year, though I think I'm going to prefer to get out early anytime). It was fine, harder than last week ,but I was quite enjoying it by the time the last run started-though that may have been psychological .Feeling fine now ....no aches so far.

Diet-wise, I'm on the 5:2 (aka The Fast Diet ) and have just a couple of kilos left to lose,so I'm hoping this might speed things up as I've plateau'd a bit of late( too much wine and chocolate creeping in).My fast days are Mondays and Thursdays and so far I have not had a problem with running on a fast day.I am just about to have lunch.....yes, it's not a complete fast...I have a 500 cals to do what I want with for the day.Maybe when I am doing the tougher weeks I will have to re- plan this, we' ll see.

Can't quite believe, like most people who have already got there, that I will complete 5K by Week 9 ....hopefully I will get a bit of encouragement from one or two of you along the way.

Well ,I think I've said enough for a newbie,so I'm going to be brave and hit 'Publish' .......!

Hi Carolecal, Thanks for sharing your comment. I hope to start my c25k journey this evening! I quit smoking back in Februrary and since then I've piled on the weight and I wasn't slim or fit ot begin with! It's been 30 years since I ran anywhere.... I've been a couch potato for years... I'm so interested to read the blogs and see that there are other people like me who are getting fit and running... You are an inspiration to make a start so thanks very much ... Good Luck :)

Good luck with your runs. This forum is fab. I have also been doing the 5:2 diet but not found I have lost much weight. I have dropped about 5lb, but not sure if that is the diet or the running. Been doing the diet for about 6 weeks now.
