Wk 6 R1 - calves have calmed down!

Thanks everyone who said the calf agony might go! It has! (Fingers crossed!)

The pain seems to have moved up behind my knee - didn't know I had muscles there! Is this what happens? Or just my feeble knees?

It was strange stopping and starting again - hard work! But I have such faith in the programme now that I believe I can do whatever Laura says and just get on with it.

And you can! Congrats on the first of week 6. The back to intervals is a shock after the elation of the 20 minutes isn't it! Calves? Knees? Yep it's just those grumble muscles all wanting their say. It gets less and less as you go on. Good runnings for run 2 ☺☺

Very sensible - you can definitely trust her.

Hope R2 goes well - it's a tricky old week!

Yes, that exact thing happened to me! Once my calves settled down I thought the behind the knee trouble was a separate thing but as it gradually eased I realised it was still related to the very top of my calf. I had to rest for about five days on Week 9 but it eased gradually and didn't come back. Keep up the calves stretches and maybe get yourself a foam roller and/or a sports massage which may help the calves.

Thanks melly4012 that's really helpful. I was wondering if it was something to do with my muscles gradually strengthening from the foot upward. A sports massage sounds a good plan !

I would imagine it's something like that! I was convinced something had gone wrong with my knee but as the pain lessened I realised it was down the top of my calf muscle. Keep stretching and strengthening. Any excuse for a sports massage too. :)

I'm interested to see what happens on the next run - maybe thigh agony? X
