Ran Wk6 R1 and it was really good. The longer distance makes it easier to get into a rhythm somehow but I’m now slightly paranoid about getting injured so at least that stops me from going too fast or doing anything silly!
Very excited because I got on a scale today and I’m down 18 pounds from Jan (from 19st 5lb to 18 st 1 lb). I have a lot of weight to lose still but instead of crash dieting and yo-yo dieting I’m trying to slowly lose the weight through sustainable lifestyle changes. It’s taken time but 5K run is such a great aid. I’m starting the strength training on my alternate days so will check in if that helps!

Thanks so much! And don’t beat yourself up over the weight not coming off yet. Getting fitter and healthier means that changing diet will have more of an impact when you feel it’s the right time to do it!
You have exactly the right approach to not getting injured - slow and steady. If you start getting twinges or aches, just take an extra rest day.
I was a lifelong yoyo dieter too. I lost most of my excess weight before starting couch to 5k by becoming vegetarian and cutting out processed carbs. It worked like a dream, as any healthy diet would do.
The game changer has been running. My cravings for rubbish food has diminished. I have muscles instead of flab. I actually like myself and what my body is capable of doing and that I can wear whatever I like (which is a pretty sad indictment of the last 30 years). I wouldn't go back to that old me for anything.
You are on the same journey and you will get there too. I salute you. ✊
This is such a lovely reply. Congratulations on the weight loss and thank you so much for the encouragement. Yeah, I’ve just gotten to the point where I refuse to do short term crash diets that I know won’t work. I’m really excited about this program and just being fitter overall!
