Rain was so heavy I decided to go to the gym and run on the treadmill. Apart from the usual Mrs Bean carry on of not knowing how to work the machine I just didn't like it very much. I love running outdoors but at the gym I felt hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. Any tips for treadmill running ?

First run on treadmill

Hi I'm on week 7 and have only just graduated to the great outdoors. I have found treadmill running good for pace setting, I run really slowly I set it to 4.9mph and walk at 3.7, I try to mentally break the runs into 5 minutes it just makes it easier manage. I try and pick the treadmill closest to the air vent and blast the music up high. It's definitely harder mentally on the treadmill than outdoors.
Good luck

I find the TVs rarely work so I've got spotify on my phone, there's pre set running music on there. It's definitely harder in silence, well done.

Run in the rain?! You may not do it all or as speedily as normal but you'll get the benefits of fresh air and a wash!
And the clothes you wear get a free rinse cycle.
I have tried the treadmill and not for me much prefer the outdoors. Only issue I have is that the glasses tend to get very wet and difficult to see were you are going at times.
Need a peaked cap I think, or use a route that has more trees to run under.

A high energy fast paced playlist to take your mind off the monotony plus a towel soaked in water beforehand to mop your sweating brow 😓
Next time, just face the rain head-on and prepare to love it!

I did my first run on the treadmill yesterday after heavy rain spoiling my regular running route. I forgot to take my towel along and the whole machine was soaked in my sweat :). It was a 5 mile Fartlek session and I was very surprised in the end. I only managed to complete the distance in 1 hour. My easy training pace is much faster than that. May be treadmill is not for me...
But I have to admit it was much easier on the legs. Normally after a Fartlek session my legs will be very sore but yesterday I was fine.

Get a baseball cap and run in the rain ? I have run on treadmill and get obsessed with the readouts. Save the gym for classes and weights maybe.

I just run outside in all weathers 😊 A peaked cap is a boon. I got mine from Aldi cheap as chips
