After 10 days of not running due to a cold and cough I thought I'd take my ipod out (on shuffle of course, I love the randomness of it) and see how I got on. I was hoping for at least ten minutes and got 23. And it was a joy - didn't go out until 9.15 but my favourite running route is through dappled woodland (at the top of a hill in very urban Birmingham, love the randomness of the UK too!) so whilst there was some direct sun there was lots of shade too. I could have carried on but didn't want to push myself (saving that for Monday).

Bring on wk9 next week.

I bet you were glad to get back out there pounding your running route after you enforced layoff

Sounds delightful :) And such a good feeling when you set yourself a minimum target, and completely smash it!

Isn't it. I think I might do the same thing on Monday - if I get to 30 mins it can be w9r1 if not it's a conditioning run: win- win,

Thankyou - the best thing is I feel like 'me' again and I never ever thought that would include running!

Getting there - I think the biggest learning has been patience because I had some delays and then couldn't run for 10 days...

Definitely. I had to have nearly a week off between W9R1 and W9R2 because of a knee niggle and it was so frustrating knowing I was so close to graduation. I had to remind myself that, although graduation is the goal, my running journey wasn't going to stop there so it wasn't the finish line in that sense and just one of many many runs ahead of me. It definitely helped to think of it in that sense. I will have to keep it and mind and learn the patience too on the IC now! :)

Practice patience and get some good shoes (if you haven't already!)

Enjoy your run on Monday. You are running for that graduation tape. Keep going. . . and let us know when you run through it.

It is great to be reminded that if we are grounded for whatever reason it does not mean we lose everything we have worked so hard for in fitness. Thanks, and go you!
