Had to leave London at 5am to dodge traffic and the sun above the mist was looking beautiful while I was on my way. I'd got a suitable run planned out to do if my cold didn't feel too bad and if there were no extra crises in the funeral arrangements for my Dad. This time, I was able to take Laura with me, and it does help. I'd noticed there were plenty of shortcuts if i didn't feel up to carrying on, and deliberately went even slower than usual, but actually my cold felt better for running and I was certainly in a better place mentally for facing a very difficult day.

I wish it was under better circumstances, but well done. Keep on running, that will keep you busy and tough on both levels. There will be time for celebration down the road, maybe on your 10K?

That's a good idea about the 10k, though I might go for an earlier celebration too - maybe first parkrun?

2 events on one day - you certainly won't forget it! Sorry you had to graduate under such distressing circumstances.

Well done orchards . Bittersweet celebration then... So glad you ran. A great positive in what must have been a very emotional day. Congratulations, condolences and a big cyber hug. 🏆

Thanks all! Should clarify that the funeral wasn't actually yesterday - I was making all the arrangements for it to take place next week, but that in itself is difficult, especially finding out what my mum wants in a tactful way while keeping it within realistic bounds. The run, and being pleased about graduating , really made helped me keep a clear head and to put things as well as possible to her so she wasn't even more upset. On the day of the funeral I will definitely try to go for a run again.
