Week 3 run 2 struggle today

Did wk 3 run 1 yesterday and felt fine so did run 2 today and struggled a bit more, no pains just a bit more lethargic. Sure this is because I have done 2 days in a row but when work and family commitments are there runs need to be around this. Any advice?

I'm no expert but know from personal experience that rest days are important, I found I needed 2 at the start. I know how difficult it can be to fit runs into a busy life but think you would be better to have more rest days than skip them altogether. If you don't you risk injury which will push you right back. I'm sure someone else will be along with better advice than me though.

Hi - I have found that a days rest is not enough for me so I sometimes go 2 or 3 days in between runs. I know what you mean tho' about feeling good and wanting to go again but when I do that too soon I find the run so much harder and really struggle.

Commitments are difficult to work around. I haven;t done it yet but theres some people who love an early morning run before the family stirs 😬. Maybe that could be an option?

Well done on completing your run 😀

Rest is important.. and family too.. so, maybe two days rest...or.. any chance of an early run?

You do,really, need your rest day at this early stage. Even if you are pretty fit anyway, it is all too easy to end up with injuries...

If the weather is brilliant.. I often feel like getting out there on a rest day, but as yet, have never given into it! Yesterday was glorious.. rest day.. But today, run day... pouring! But went anyway!

Hope you can jiggle these runs around, but my advice.. err on the side of caution:)

Thank you for the advice I will take it easy as don't want to risk injury as enjoying it.

I echo the others - rest days are very important until we become experienced runners. During the rest days our muscles recover, repair any damage and become stronger. If we don't rest there is the risk of injury - not worth it!

I understand, totally get it as about week 3 I started to miss the rest days as I was really enjoying it, but I was starting to struggle.

After posting here for advise I took 3 rest days and totally smashed my run today so from experience you need to rest. Morning runs are really good to they really set you up for the day xxx
