Going to do w5r3 tomorrow and feeling apprehensive, why is there such a big jump in running time.

W5r3 and worried
Hi I did W5R3 yesterday if you treat the runs as two 10 minute segments it isn't, to bad you will have already run eight minutes so it is just adding two more and losing a minute walk. Hope that helps
You ran for 16 minutes during W5R2 with a little break. So a 20 minute run, all be it with no break, is only a little bit further .
As long as you go at the same pace you've done all your previous runs at, you'll be absolutely fine. Trust me
Because it works!!!!!!
Take it nice and slow and you will be grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Everyone gets apprehensive about this one but everything you've done up to now means you can do this.
Take it slow slow and slower still; you will get into a nice steady slow pace and when Laura says you're halfway there you will start grinning because you'll know you're going to do it X
You will be grinning for hours afterwards 😬
Good Luck, looking forward to seeing your elated post afterwards 👍
Thanks for all your encouragement, i will let you know how i get on .
Don't be! Really, it's no big deal, most of the problem is the mind and those gremlins, clear it! And try & keep it clear when running, and breathe, not always easy, but if there's no pain, then there shouldn't be a problem. When the going gets tough the tough get going! Well done for getting to where you are.. 😊
You are ready for it.. that is why
Follow it through, go slowly and steadily..focus on now, and how far you have come... and try hard not to focus on the future runs
Because there are 2 runs of 8 minutes in W5R2, run 3 is only 4 minutes extra in total than the previous run. It is a big jump, don't get me wrong, but considering you've already stepped up from running 9 minutes total in week 3 to a total of 16 minutes in week 4, it's very do-able!
Go slow and steady - if you feel like you need to stop just slow down a bit more. Once you hit 10 minutes remember from that point you are counting down, not up. Use any tactics you've learned in the last 5 weeks to keep those gremlins at bay. You can do it!
Good luck, Laura will take you through. I just kept thinking small steps.......... And then there were just two minutes left........
Nanny-by-the-sea you can do this, just keep going and slowing down where you need to. You really will be having the biggest smile on your face afterwards, I know I did.👍🏼😄
It does seem like a big jump I agree, but it is perfectly do-able . All the previous runs have laid the foundations for this one, mental strength is the key to this one .
This run I admit , gave me sleepless nights , but just keep doing what you've been doing so far. Slow and steady pace , and try to keep your breathing calm, its just a gentle jog. Break the time down into 5 minute chunks in your head if it helps.
You are going to feel so good after completing this one . I remember punching the air with a loud " YES !!! " Ha ha !
Good Luck, slow, steady, believe xxx
The only problems are likely to be mental ones. Your body is ready to run for 20 mins now, even if yku don't think so but it may be a battle with gremlins at some point. So head out in a positive frame of mind, telling yourself that slow and steady you will get through it.
Hooray! Just completed first 20min run, better than i thought, some how it was easier to keep going than to walk and then run, on to week six
