Since starting the programme I have run every other day so when I woke up bright and early ready for my run this morning I thought I wasn't going to let some rain put me off. But It was absolutely chucking it down and looking out of the window I just couldn't do it, I got back into bed!
Feeling disappointed with myself now as early mornings are my only opportunity to run. I had planned on doing my first Parkrun on Saturday so I can't go tomorrow.
Does anyone run in heavy rain? What's it like? I guess I need to just do it as some days I won't have a choice.

I have started running in the rain once and been rained on during a run a few times, getting rained on isn't to bad, starting off in the rain is just plain miserable.
I regularly run in the rain. Its great!!!! Once you have done it you'll wonder why you resisted
Wind and rain are different but it is so refreshing to run while its raining. Like you I am a morning person and if its dry I have occasionally gone 'off course' to pass under a tree while pulling on a branch to get the cooling effects of the morning dew.
hardest part is to close the front door and get wet. a minute or two in and it's fine, in fact as others have said it is refreshing and in the winter moths when the rain is cold it stops me from being a beetroot!
I tend to dodge starting a run if it is raining, might delay it until later in the day or put in an extra rest day. As long as I run 3 times in a week, I am happy. If I am already out and it rains, just keep going as it is pretty refreshing when I am hot and bothered. If it is torrential, might shelter under a tree and complete the run when it slows down. Not keen on getting wet if I can avoid it!! Julie
I happily run in the drizzle, and I've run through some heavy showers and enjoyed the cool down, but I took a look this morning and postponed the run as rain was so heavy. Apart from anything else I know I wouldn't be able to see safely as I wear glasses. Luckily I was able to get out once it was starting to dry up a bit. I did change my route to avoid the more exposed bits. Park gets deserted in poor weather and the whole experience can be lovely, fresh and clean.
