I finally got to run in the rain!!!

Week 9 run 2 this morning. I woke up and heard the rain thrumming on the roof and realised that today was my day to finally run in the rain!! I have to admit I was quite excited, I'd heard so many good things about running in the rain, although to be honest, it was better than just being cold like Monday but anyway.

Things I learnt:

1) My waterproof jacket is not waterproof. Not particularly worried because the rain cooled me down but I put my phone in a pocket and my phone was a little damp when I retrieved it!!

2) I need glasses for distance vision and as I run very early in the dark I like to have my wits about me and fully aware of whats going on ahead of me. Sadly the glasses got very wet and then started steaming up so I had to go without after 10 mins. But it wasn't too much of a drama.

I have to admit I'm quite proud of myself that I did actually go out despite the weather and I enjoyed it. I even felt like I could speed up for the last 5 minutes which was a total accomplishment for me.

Run 3 on Saturday!! Arghh!! :-)

Oh how wonderful. Makes me remember my first really wet run. The rain splashing in the puddles and me jumping over them like a kid. Enjoy your last run.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that. No glasses on, couldn't see the puddles, feet got VERY wet. Trainers are currently on a piece of newspaper under the radiator to dry off!

The 'waterproof' jacket went straight into the washing machine because it stunk!!!

Might be a good idea to get some disposable contact lenses for running days! Or get lasered (but that isn't very cheap!). Some people wear a baseball style cap as the peak keeps the rain off the glasses.

I have very dry eyes so I can't wear contacts or get lazered. But the hat sounds like a good idea!!
