After a very busy week and not running for a whole week I went out and did my final run. I did it! My goal was to complete before my 50th and I made it. Slow and steady and not quite 4K but that's my next goal. And then park run......
If I can do it (third attempt) anyone can. Go for it!!!

I read back through you posts to see your journey. It's great you finally made it and I'm interested to know how things progressed with your knee? Having trouble of my own which has been painfully and frustrating. Realise now is not the moment to ask as you need to be celebrating your brilliant achievement🍾, but if you get time please could you post your running timeline and how you recovered sometime. All the best and good luck for 4k😊😊
My knees are still a bit dodgy/creaky and I always wear knee supports when running. After my last running attempt I madly agreed to go skiing with my kids and hurt my hip so I was out of action for a while and didn't restart. For the last two years I have been doing an excercise class twice a week where we do lots of squats, lunges etc and I think that may have strengthened them a bit. They still ache for a while after each run and I make sure I don't overdo it.
I hope it improves, take it steady and perhaps don't increase the running time too fast.
Thanks natblonde for taking time out from celebrating to reply!!
I bought some knee supports which I have worn (at home!) still struggling a week later with one knee. Still aching just doing ordinary things and needed pain killers yesterday. Might have it checked out if still aching by weekend. I'm going to try rowing to strengthen up and back to Pilates which I still haven't got round to. Good to know there is a way back to the running as it was a really positive thing for me, as most of us find. Going to take it really slowly, when I eventually get back to it and definitely no skiing! Lol. Thanks again for your answer and best of luck 😊
