did the first of the 5K plus podcasts today, and found to my surprise that my natural cadence is 150 to 155 bpm

so I will look forward to doing the speed podcast to see if I can push my pace a bit more.

great run 5.04K in 30 mins approx.

I am also a 150er, although I prefer my own music 😊

I quite liked the lift music was strangely soothing :-)

In fairness I haven't tried the podcasts music so it could be me who's missing out ha ha

I think mine is around that - so you will find stepping stones a good, fast run. You cover a bit more ground every time you do it :)

cool I look forward to building on my first attempt

noticed that I need to do some core strengthening exercises towards end of run I got a bit floppy

My form tends to go a bit at the end, I guess I'm just pretty tired. Core strength, or strength exercises will def help - loads on you tube to choose from.

That's a good time!

May I ask if you're tall or if you know your stride length?

Nick_Buddha_12 profile image
Nick_Buddha_12Graduate in reply to Needing-answers

Nope to both

I'm a short arsed chap at 5ft 8 :-)

I'm a shorter arsed woman at 5'3'! I found a metronome app for my phone which you can adjust which was good, I sometimes run with music but choose something with the right BPM

My cadence is between 175-180 which isn't bad but my stride is short. Would love to get near a 30 minute 5k though.

My natural is about 162-5. I found the speed podcast too slow in the slow bits, but this morning I cued it up by mistake (was meaning to do stamina and was faffing around with door locks, earphones etc when Laura was doing her bit at the beginning) and wondered why the first five minutes were so weird. Once I realised my mistake I ran fast to the 165 bits and went as slow as I could during the slow bits, but not as slow as 150. I did it twice, and came out with my fastest pace for ages. Hurrah!
