Don't beat yourself up about it. We all have good days and bad days. I know, I'm having more bad days than good days at the moment. The important thing is that you got out there and you ran! Well done!
Keep at it. The good days are just around the corner. You've just got to get to that corner first.
You've had a break from running so just be pleased that you did get out there. Taking the dog is an excellent idea as it will always be willing to go out and will enjoy every outing. Make a date for your next run, plan where you are going and remember the pleasure running gave you, it won't be long until your body starts to agree again. This is something you enjoyed until life took over, you'll be back on form soon.
You did it and that is worth being proud of. In the book No Need For Speed Bingham writes about us being dedicated to ourselves. That even when we have needed time away from running for illness, too busy etc. That we still come back to it because we are dedicated. Discipline gets us out there like you have done this morning, but it's dedication to a healthier and probably happier version of ourselves that gets us out there after a bad run or break. I've probably summarised that rather poorly. What I'm trying to say is that you're doing great and that you will thank yourself later for persevering now.
Hey alarkin1979 , good to see you back and getting back out there ☺ pace/speed and or distance doesn't matter , that will build as you progress
I seem to remember sweating alot more of my return from the ic ,don't worry it does get better, enjoy being back out there 😊
1.5 miles is not a bad distance in absolute terms and it is a pretty good one if you haven't run for a while so you have no reason to beat yourself up. Furthermore the heat does not help so give yourself some credit; acknowledge your good performance and built from there. You will be back to your "old" self in no time.
