W2R2 - feel a bit discouraged

Found that much harder than w2r1. Really felt like my legs were going to give out after just 2 of the 6 runs. Not sure how progressing to more running in week 3 will work!

I went at half 6 this morning. My last run was Friday evening. Maybe I need to wait at least 48 hours between runs?

Anyway hopefully run 3 won't feel quite so tough!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hey, I was where you were. I think everyone was! Keep your head up and keep those legs moving. I’m starting week 5 tomorrow, having repeated a couple of weeks, and it’s still a struggle but I’m doing it - managing 5 minutes now, at a snail’s pace - but still moving. You can do it too, I promise. X

Well done..but slow down.

If it is a struggle, and these early days can be...then just relax and take it as slow as you like. Just focus on each run as it comes...try not to look too far ahead.

Have you checked this post out... It is so useful and has a lot of great information.

Many folk have felt and will feel as you do, this is a new thing that you are doing... you are going to be fine:)

Week 2 feels like a big step up from week 1. If you're finding it a bit tough then try slowing your jogging right down so that you're comfortable sticking to the times.

I think everyone has good and bad days, try not to be too discouraged.

I’m at the same point on the program and find that, although I’m coping with the 90 second run I’m feeling quite nervous about W3 and the leap from 90s to 3m.

There’s a lot of encouragement, advice and support here and I’m taking comfort from knowing I’m not the only one struggling so early.

Keep going, repeat when necessary and we’ll all do this together 👍🏻👍🏻

Don't worry about week three. It's a challenge but you'll be ready for it - it is actually the same amount of running as week 2, but with fewer and shorter walking breaks. You'll be ready for that precisely because the runs in weeks 1 and 2 have prepared you for it.

Apart from the good advice given above, you might also find that evenings just work better for you than mornings due to your natural body rhythm.

Thanks everyone. I think my next run will be evening due to circumstances so will see how I get on. I'll try not to prejudge and take it as it comes. I'll also try slowing down. Hopefully it'll leave me feeling more positive about week 3!

One lovely thing about morning runs though is that it's done and dusted and you've got the rest of the day to enjoy.

Will do a bit of both and see which works better over time.

Thanks for all the advice!
