First 5K Complete.. Break?

SO..... It's done, I'm proud and achy, and surprisingly anxious to get back out there!  But since I know I pushed my body further than usual (my legs are reminding me with every step) what is a good amount of time before I should get out there and run again? And when I do, should I start off slower and build up again?

Hard to answer the question without knowing more.  However, it sounds like you have maybe done more than you were ready for!  Have you graduated from the C25K programme?

I have.. and I think I might have made it sound worse than it is.. I'm just a but sore.. and bit more than I was for week 8 and 9. I am a Graduate. This 5K race was my final run.

Congratulations on completing your first 5K race.  You should be proud.

Maybe see how you feel over the next few days---if you feel tired and stiff take it gently.

If anything hurts--rest up until the pain goes.

Here's a link to an article of race recovery

Good luck with your running.

Well done running the 5k :)

If it's just aches and niggles that settle then there's no reason to leave it longer than a day or two until you next go out.

3 x 30 min runs or 3 x 5k runs a week at/ after graduation is where the programme leads to so as long as nothing is strained then get back to it ;)
