First 5K!

I graduated last week, πŸ˜€, completing my last 30 min run in my tenth week, more than happy with that bearing in mind 30 seconds of running practically killed me when I started on this epic journey.

I will be honest, I was at a bit of a loss about what to do this week. Should I consolidate with a few more 30 minute runs or do I go straight for the 5K?

Anyway, I decided to get out and just run, do my 30 minutes and see how I felt about carrying on. Ended up running 5.5K, non stop! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Although my legs felt like lead weights, I felt A-MA-ZING! I didn’t know wether to laugh or cry at the end. Totes emosh!!

However, I am still unsure of how to approach my running now. Should I keep to running 5K and try to up my speed, as I am probably running not much faster than a brisk walk; or do I keep increasing my distance. Or does it not matter? I would love to do the local park run but am not sure if there is maximum finish time? So many questions!!

Any hints or tips would be much appreciated! πŸ‘πŸ»

Hey Atownee, congrats on the graduation πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“...

Doing 5.5k on 30 moms is good going... well done... I’m not qualified to answer the what next question, as I’m only on week 6.

With regards to the park run, you are way fast enough to hold your own... so go for it. there is no time limit as such on the park run... they are open door events, with all levels welcome, they have a big mixed from whippets to walk joggers.

Well done lass that's brilliant, get yourself to your local park run and have a go don't worry about time there are some who walk quite a bit.

Carry on running 5k for a little while to consolidate your ability, get stronger and give yourself time to think about what next

Several weeks on now from my graduation (August) I now find running 5k considerably easier

Thanks, I think I will take your advice, I’ve managed the 5K, albeit very very slowly, 🐌, so a good idea to keep going at that to continue to build my stamina. πŸ˜ƒ. Thanks once again!
