So just done week 2 run 1. Was ok, bit tougher than week 1 but I did it. Only problem is one of my hands Swelled up and was painful to move my fingers gone down as I cool down now. Do I just need to drink more?? Run slower?? should I be worried??

Your hand? That is unusual. I would go to the Dr.

You do need to run slower and drink more, because everyone needs to do those things at this point in the programme, but neither should be causing your hands to swell.

Hand swelling during exercise is not an uncommon problem.

You can reduce/avoid it by removing constrictive objects (e.g. rings and tight bracelets) and doing some hand stretch (clench your fists and then open your fingers as wide as you can for a few times) every now and then during your run.

You be on to something there the hand that's swollen is the one that I always wear a wristband on which is quite tight. Maybe I'll try taking it off for my next run. Didn't even think about that thanks

My hands often swell up uncomfortably when I go for a long walk, I find that if I wiggle my fingers and make a fist periodically while walking they don't do it as much. When I run it is not so pronounced but I think that my be because my arms are more bent and moving more. I did see a Doc years ago and he found that it is simply that the circulation in my hands is not great. If it's painful I would go and see the Doc to put your mind at rest. Good luck!

One of the reasons running is better for me is because of the hand movements. My hands do swell painfully with walking and standing but because you use your arms bent whilst running, pumping along, I don't seem to get the same problem.

Although I think Secan may have the answer, and not for the first time.
