Hi Folks,

Just a quick hello from me. After a few scares from the doctor decided to get fitter and started the C25K method.

I am currently on WK3 and hoping to complete run 2 tonight. It's been a nice journey so far, not having run since school days and really enjoying it.

Hope everyone has a lovely Xmas and Happy New Year..

Saul.

School sports were something I avoided although I do seem to remember running for a bus back then. Seriously though I've just completed the programme and can't quite believe how far I've come although it seemed an all too daunting prospect at the start. You've made the first step just need to keep it up, use the forum for inspiration and Laura will keep you company on your running days. All the best and have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Well back at home now after completing W3R2. Really enjoyed today's run, feeling the enthusiasm of my youth and the aches and pains of my age.

It's nice to see everyone at different stages, so there is inspiration and support at the same time, and moreover experience and advise.

Earlier I had a gait analysis done (just to be safe) and treated myself to a new pair of "real" running shoes ( i'm one of those who has to have everything for that particular project).

Look at me taking up all your time, will leave you to it and enjoy the festive season @ ElsieW good luck with your run tomorrow.

Do people put up their times etc, or discuss them?

Oh yes, we are all full of enthusiasm and aches and pains, whatever our age!! A gait analysis and properly fitting shoes is a fab way to start. As for discussing time - it is totally up to you. We share good runs, bad runs, breakthrough times, distances, new gear etc etc. Even photos of our new running shoes!!! It is a place where we all understand the need to talk about anything running related that not everyone else finds quite so fascinating!

Hello Saul and Welcome. You have made two excellent decisions. First, deciding to get fit and the second was to join this forum. You will find lots of encouragement, guidance and tips to help you reach your goals.

Congratulations and I look forward to hearing about your journey.

Welcome to the gang

I graduated in August having not run since about 1982 when I was at Secondary school.

Lucky to have some great areas to run near home.

I'm doing a 10k in January....if someone had said this time last year I would be running over 5k I would never have believed it

Good luck with the program and always find help and advice on here

Well done keep going, this time of year is difficult what with work darkness and wind/wet weather.

T'was the morning of Christmas.....young Saul had woken up early and excited that he had to complete run 3 of week 3. As he opened his front door he was met with shock and horror "oh no rain!". Young Saul persevered picked up his waterproof jacket and off he went chanting I have to do this, I have to do this.

26 minutes and 37 seconds later he was back at home wet, but happy as he had achieved his best run of the week 3.60km, with an average pace of 7.24 min/km.

Well folks that's me done with week 3, looking forward to week 4.

Merry Xmas.

Saul.
