Thought I would try something a little different today. A shorter but faster run, so I headed back to w1r1 on the c25k. The plan was to slow jog the walk bit and go faster than my normal snail pace on the run sections. Fine in theory 🤣
Some of the walk bits I did walk, gulping air like a crazy hyperventilating tortoise 🐢 some of the walk bits I did slow jog. The run bits I tried to go at what feels like "running pace". You know the one. Where you think you are gliding along like Paula Radcliffe. I'm sure the reality is far from that but it felt good. Blinkin hard but good.
Not sure how I had done, I was very pleased to see I had knocked 20 seconds off my average pace 👐
Now not 2 weeks ago I said no I don't plan to run 10k so prob won't join the guys on the other forum. Yep you guessed it! I had a sneaky peek at juju's plan and think I may give it a go. 🤷♀️ I won't be aiming for 10k but thinking the plan (in minutes option not distance option) will help get me up to 5k and a little bit beyond 😊
I hope you are all having a great weekend and that no one gets too soggy x
Happy running folks xxx

I love revisiting W1 just to run through the whole podcast. It's still feels amazing that it can be done. I also enjoy the speed podcast, I use it as I feel. Sometimes follow from start to finish, or walk for 5 without listening then 10mins run instead of 5, or an extra 5 run at the end. I like a high kick v slow during intervals or push running each one, also a quick swipe and maybe 12 intervals instead of 6. I've just started Sam's bridge to 10k as it gives instruction and the music, although it doesn't bother me either way seems better than C25k ☺️ Either way, I'm still not running to distance, I run to time 30mins, and I'll build up to one hour. The distance will come eventually so that's a bonus.
Happy running to you to. Your program so you decide, whatever you choose you'll always win by keep on running 😃
This is the link to FAQs, the link to Sam's at the bottom amongst others. I found some feedback on the Bridge community before trying week1. It's supposed to be a 5 week programme but I've decided to build it slowly so I can mix up my weekly runs. It's similar to JuJu but with some voice over pushes, but not as good as the C25k chat. If only Laura would finally record it then that would be a winner!
It felt as bad as the original wk1! I am defo more of a plodder. I think they are starting an official new batch of juju plan runners next week so I'm keeping an eye out for the post.
I defo won't be doing the whole of c25k again like that. It would kill me off 🤣 ☠ I think on my short runs it's a good time to play with various techniques and continue plodding on the longer runs x
A couple of weeks ago, I did a Week 1 run with my 11 year old son who has decided to have a go at C25K. It was way harder than I thought it'd be, given that I've graduated! His running pace is faster than mine by quite a margin but even so... I was expecting to breeze through it and it made me realise that I'm still a very new runner with a lot more stamina to build! I'm starting to think that I might give the Bridge to 10K plan a try because I'd love to do a 10K at least once in my life...
I found the time version of juju’s plan excellent as a guide to extending runs until I pulled a muscle gardening. Planning to go back to it soon. Nice to have a bit of structure in manageable form.
