Took the advice about not leaping in to Stepping Stones just yet but to have fun with my running instead. Had planned to put music on my mp3 but with no clue of how to achieve this and with my minions (:-)) at work/school I set off with nothing more than alarms on my phone to tell me when my 5 min warm up was over and when my 30 min run was done. I have to say I quite enjoyed just listening to the world around me and I feel that my pace was quicker than normal and I definitely feel like I have exerted myself. Will be doing similar on Sunday. Feeling happy about running again, so thank you for advice and comments given yesterday

I was tentative about turning off the music, however, once I did I felt it was much better. Now if anything I might have runkeeper letting me know each mile. On longer runs the steady crunch under your feet becomes almost a comfort blanket.

Really pleased to hear that, fimcbe. Engaging with the world around you can be a very enjoyable distraction from the gremlins. I am so glad you are finding the fun.
Happy running.

Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention that despite no mp3 player there was still some music as flippin' Julie is still stuck in my head!
