A cancelled event and the story of W8R1

So I was all booked up and psyched to do a 10K today.

All was going to plan.

A long playlist was sorted.

Goretex running jacket was bought.

We were driving to Pollock Country Park and I got a message from a friend that the event had been cancelled.

Such a let down!

So after doing some shopping, we got home.

And then I decided to go to the gym on the trusty treadmill and go for W8R1.

38 minutes on the treadmill and I had finished W8R1 with the 28 minute run :-)

Looking forward to W8R2.

Aw Ash , that mustve been so disappointing for you . Especially when youre all psyched up and ready to go. I did wonder if they would cancel my Leeds run today as the weather was absolutely horrendous on the way there .

Will it be re-scheduled do you know ?

On the bright side, you did your first Week 8 run so all was not lost :-)

Well done ! :-) xxx

I think the real disappointment was lack of communication on part of British Heart Foundation event organisers.

They are talking about letting us run in their Edinburgh event using same entry numbers.

Anyway...at the moment I am concentrating on C25K graduation. And after that, I aim to consolidate by running outdoors.

I have got a couple of flat local paths worked out where I can do my outdoor running :-) xxx

How disappointing! :-( But at least you got another run under your belt. Well done for that. You're getting closer to graduation!

You are brave to run in Pollok park at all - I did Parkrun there a couple of weeks ago and found it tough.

I'm on wk8 run 2 this evening - glad to see I'll burn 169 calories looking at your screen shot! 10K seems a massive jump in distance from the week 8 runs??

Thanks Nell.

Distance wise I can do and have done half marathons. However, I have walked most of the distance in the past. So 10K is not a difficult run for me distance wise.

I am hoping that C25K will help me run faster and further so that I can finish the events quicker.

I can't understand how anyone does a half marathon - I'll stick with 5k I think!!
