I know rest days are needed and my legs need them. My brain however has different ideas! I like to think about running, where I am going, what to wear and feels like an empty day without this!!! From experience I know my knees benefit from it but hoping to recover more quickly in the future so I can run further! ๐ Julie

Yes it's hard! Do other types of exercise on your rest days to complement your running, like cycling, swimming, walking,Pilates, weights. There's so much you can do and then on your run days you'll feel even stronger!
I'm like that too. I want to be able to run whenever I feel like it and for as long as I like
However I can't--but what I have learnt is that on the days off I have less stiffness if I do some sort of activity.
If my legs allow I do power walking and I have also started doing some gentle yoga videos on youtube. This seems to help my legs and I am also enjoying it--so days without running don't seem so bad.

Rest days are rubbish aren't they but I have to have them. I even have 2 after a 10k or more ! I know if I don't I will upset my knees and I really don't want to do that ! The IC is worse than rest days !!
Try to Enjoy the rest days, your body will thank you. As IP says there are plenty of activities you can do/try instead. Don't forget Miss W's faithful fitness DVDs. its very easy to get carried away but also it feels great to do other things in between.
