Injured? Y not volunteer?

I have a niggly knee and so didn't want to run in my local parkrun today as I will go for a plod this afternoon. Decided to volunteer instead and guided runners on the course and cheered them on. What a fantastic experience it was. Supported myself by the team and given a brilliant task to do. Fast runners, first time runners, children and young and more mature all ran with lots of determination. I came away being thankful I discovered running not long ago myself, I can run and so awesome to be part of a running community! Volunteering is a great way to find out about ur local run, get to know the volunteer team and keep connected to the real reason u run. I am usually a running loner but it is good for me to push myself to mix with inspirational people! Julie 😍

Hi Julie, I went for my first park run this morning and I really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be back again next week! You're right, it's definitely inspirational to see so many other fantastic runners and to see all the families running with little kids. And the dogs, so cute!! Hope your niggly knee gets better soon x

Thank you, I went out this afternoon and ran at a slow pace for 30 minutes. Could have done more but decided not. Will try another running club on Wednesday evening and see how it goes, hoping to learn different warm up and stretch exercises and more about how to improve safely. Fantastic run, what was the course like? Any hills or grass??

Thanks for volunteering - the only upside to running injuries is a ready supply of Parkrun volunteers! Whether running, volunteering or just being a bystander Parkrun gives me that "feel good " factor every week ☺

Well done for volunteering I also did my first volunteering session today as I made a promise when I started park runs to volunteer after every 10 or 12 runs. As you say great feeling and everyone makes you feel valued as,well,as getting to know more runners / volunteers.
