I live in Southsea, I'm somewhere around week 5/6 depending on what happens when I start next week. I've just done a 100k sponsored walk so my running went out the window for a while and now I have an ankle twice its normal size
I live in Southsea but am 9 months ahead of you, so wouldn't be a suitable running buddy at the moment. If you run with other people, it's really important you don't find yourself pushed along too fast by faster runners. Don't be put off the idea of running by yourself to start with, as it allows you to find your own pace. The seafront and common are great places to run, and well used by local runners. You can enter the Southsea parkrun too once you are able to get round the course, quite a lot of people run/walk it, so it's perfectly possible to do it once you get into the latter part of C25k. If you want to find other people starting off, the Portsmouth Joggers club takes beginner groups through C25k, obviously starting a new batch every so often. I think they are based at Lakeside (the development around the IBM site at north harbour). I didn't use them, but I come across a lot of their runners at parkrun.
