Yes, I did my first half in Bristol a few weeks ago. Not sure how many thousands entered.. But I know for sure there weren't too many behind me... 😁 Will try harder next time and prepare a bit better!
Congrats! That's brilliant! Can I just ask when did you graduate and how did you move from 5k to half marathon? Any plans used? Thanks for advice and well done again.
I graduated about three years ago I think. I just gradually built up my mileage, but when I got to 18k I started getting tendonitis. So my preparation really suffered. So take it slowly!!
I'll be honest I found it tough. I started training about 4 months before and got up to 18k. I then started suffering with tendonitis, so rested for a while ( which didn't help) so ended up with anti inflammatory drugs and strapping up my ankle. So I had nowhere near the preparation I had planned unfortunately. So my advice is use a plan and build up slowly but believe anything is possible. I'll do it again and be better prepared I hope x
It's such a long way, I imagine the training (and day) must be hard for most people to varying degrees. I think you're great persevering through the tendonitis. A hm isn't something everyone can say they've done, but you can! I have harboured vague dreams of completing one at some point in the future.. who knows?! It's such a long way to run!
Brilliant ! That is a fantastic achievement , you should be very proud of yourselves !
Lovely photo, you both look so happy ! I would get that enlarged and frame it and put it somewhere really prominent as a reminder of such an eventful day !
Wow! What a fantastic achievement HH! So well done to you and your husband and what a fab photo. You both look sooooo happy. I bet you're still grinning.
That is excellent. I'm hoping to do my first HM next May. I started C25K in June last year - in much the same position as you. This running business has had a massive impact - far more than I expected! To see others achieving such great things is a great inspiration. I hope that next May I'll be posting this kind of picture & if I do the HM in less than 3 hours I"ll be chuffed!
Congratulations on your half marathon! it is wonderful to see and read about people like yourself showing the rest of us (me) that great feats are achievable. I'm back at the start of the journey after about 6 months off due to foot and back problems and 5k seems a distant dream right now, but you've inspired me that I can do it and possibly go further too! I hope your tendonitis heals quickly cracking photo too
Superb, a half marathon is a really special achievement, I do hope you can Sort out the tendon issues, which are a major pain, I know. Great photo too - here's to the next HM!
What a fantastic picture - Very well done! Such an inspiration to those people who say they can't run! Congratulations! I have only gone up to 10k so far!
