OMG - I have done it!!!!!

I started my journey on 17.06.2015 and today I completed the programme!

I can't believe I have done it. 3 months ago when I struggled with that first run I would never have believed I could run for 30 mins solid.

I am still nowhere near 5k I am only managing 3.5k so I think I will keep going and try to increase the distance till I can get the 5k. I think it will take ages as I run really slowly but I'm going to try.

  • Well done , I think you are right on track because it is that speed that enabled u to do 30 minutes of running non stop. If u could run for more time at the same speed, you would reach 5 K in just under 45 minutes. I think we run at the same speed in that case, I graduate on Saturday and ran 5K in 43 minutes when I tried it out in week 7 (showing off on a really good day)!

    I agree with you about increasing distance slowly as a great plan (maybe just 5 extra minutes for example). Bi would think pushing for speed is more likely to lead to injury.

    My plan is to continue with 3 runs a week (2 x 30 mins; 1 x 5k) and I will try some different places - woods, grass, along the river and country parks. Have u thought about parkrun, I'm doing my first one for my graduation on Saturday! Julie πŸ˜€

  • Well done for persisting. As long as you're enjoying your running, the speed still doesn't matter. And the nice thing about having 5km still on the to-do list is that it gives you a natural goal to work toward while you're setting this up as a part of your way of life.

  • Fantastic. Don't get hung up on speed, just enjoy the fact that YOU can run for 30 mins non stop. An achievement not to be sniffed at.

  • Congratulations on your graduation. Don't worry about speed yet. I take just under 45 mins to do 5k, so a similar speed to you. Just enjoy your running and try to keep in the habit of running regularly and I'm sure you will get to 5k and steadily improve your speed. C25K was just the start of your running adventures!
