Running challenge apps?

Hey folks

Do you know if there are any apps/templates out there that can help you to trace a distance on a larger scale e.g. by running 10 miles this week you got from your house to Bristol etc? The the next week from Bristol to Bath etc

We are thinking of holding mini challenges at work to for walking and would welcome inspiration!

You could do it manually, using the Marble map program (with the Open Streetmaps plugin). Of course to accumulate the totals you would have to move them to a spreadsheet. I'd imagine you'd get better accuracy from your GPS, though, and maybe even the option of just clicking the endpoints to get the distance read-off.

Writing something like this (or add-ons to software) might be an interesting little project for someone?

The Questers here use Realfoodieclub to work it out for us... which doesn't really help you!

I'll be interested in responses: I'm swimming the River Derwent via swimming.org and had wondered if there was something similar for running.

If you can't find a dedicated app for it, you could always use Mapometer. Just agree what your starting point and target destination are, then one person could plug your individual distances into the programme at the end of the week to see how far you've got. Alternatively, you could ask Realfoodieclub how she does it. Great idea though, good luck with it :)
