Running Apps

Up until this point I haven't been too concerned about pace or distance and have been focused on running time.

I have tracked my runs on my Firbit app but I don't think that it is particularly accurate or even consistent.

I am at a stage where I am interested in my pace and distance, as a way of keeping motivated. Are there other apps that you would recommend?

Before I bought my Garmin watch I used Runkeeper - it did all I needed it to do! Strava is also worth taking a look at - hugely popular and has a great online community.🙂

Thanks for that.

There are so many and it's down to personal choice. 'The Running Channel' has a great short video about all the apps out there. I use Strava and Nike Run Club (NRC).

I like to use Strava - you can see your pace for each km and average pace over the whole run. You also get "achievements" so little medals for your best of particular segments. The basic version is free and I haven't bothered to upgrade

Hi, I have a Fitbit and I run with Jabra Elite earbuds, which are designed for sport as they have a built in heart rate sensor and are waterproof. The Jabra app for the earbuds is pretty good as it collects a lot of information like pace, training effect etc, you can also customise voice announcements whilst running for a lot of the information, for example, I have set it to notify me of each KM marker and to tell me my pace as well, but there are lots of other options. Sound quality for music is good, only negative is that the heart rate sensor makes a quiet clicking noise when it is running, but to be honest that is soon lost once I start heavy breathing during my run 😂. Compared with the fit bit the stats are very similar between the two. One nice feature of the Jabra app is it keeps a list of your best times or longest run etc, so it gives you a nice summary. Sure there are lots of other options out there also, but just thought I would throw these earbuds into the mix also! Enjoy
